Bake It Forward Initiative

Today, the state’s professional soccer team rolled out it’s latest community initiative. New Mexico United’s ‘Bake it Forward’ initiative strives to find organizations from across the state and match them with a fan who will in turn, bake homemade treats to spread cheer to their essential workers.

The initiative was inspired by majority owner & CEO Peter Trevisani’s wife Wendy Trevisani, who serves on the board for Christus St. Vincent Health Systems in Santa Fe. Wendy successfully organized the original Bake it Forward initiative, delivering baked goods to healthcare workers at Christus St. Vincent locations.

“It is exceedingly important to acknowledge the tremendous efforts by those whose jobs are more vital than ever during these trying times,” said Wendy Trevisani. “Bake it Forward was conceived out of an effort to provide a small token of a huge amount of appreciation. Alleviating some of the daily stresses even for a moment for these deserving individuals is worth everything.”

The soccer team hopes to expand on Trevisani’s efforts, by taking the initiative to a statewide level. Those hoping to get involved can sign up to bake on NM United’s website, and a representative from the team will be in contact to match them with an organization. Fans can elect to drop their baked goods off themselves, or a member of the team’s front office can assist with delivery. Each drop off will follow guidelines outlined by the individual organizations, including wearing gloves and masks.
